The British College of Podiatry administered a study of 2,000 people, revealing that a third of men and more than half of women have worn shoes that don’t fit properly.  40TH-anniversary-Logo

That’s a startling number, and it’s more than likely you are one of those. It’s important to get the right size and fit for your feet. That’s a fact San Antonio Shoemakers lives by. A big reason we send folks to our stores for a proper fitting is to make sure they truly get “the most comfortable shoe in the world.” Going to any SAS store, you will notice our trained professionals can help you get the right size for your foot.
Here are some good tips to help you get the best fit, courtesy of the National Shoe Retailer’s Association and the Pedorthic Footwear Association.
1. Shoes should as wide as your feet at their widest point. The shoes should also be longer than your feet. You want to allow adequate space at the end of the shoe for your longest toe to move.
2. Inserts or orthotics affect how your shoe fits. Inserts and orthotics take up space intended for your feet, meaning you will need a roomier shoe or a shoe with a removable foot bed.
3. Shoe sizes are not standard. They vary with each brand and every style. For this reason, don’t select your shoe by the size marked on the shoe. Have your feet measured and fitted by a trained professional.
4. Have both feet measured every time you purchase shoes. Your feet change size and shape throughout your life. If you’re buying from SAS, you can be sure you will be professionally measured and fitted by our expert staff.

I was glad I had the chance to be measured in the store because the size 8 was way to big and would not have
provided me the proper support.“  We always recommend getting your shoes professional fitted at a store that does personalized fitting, like SAS. If there’s not a store near you, read our “Find your Fit” guide. It can’t replace a proper fitting, but it’s better than just guessing.
