Organizing Expo Handouts and Giveaways

Is the information and freebie’s you collected at this years show still sitting in the bags at home? If so, then this is a must-read article.  I want to show you a quick way to sort, organize and put away the stuff you collected at the show. I wrote about this process after last year’s show, but I wanted to freshen it up a bit.
First step is to dump out all your bags onto your bed, table or floor and sort the contents into 2 piles:
• Papers/Literature/Business Cards
• Stuff
Second, put the stuff away. If you received pens, put them near your office supplies. If you received
candy, put them near your sweets. Continue to do this until all your stuff is put away.
Third, group your papers into like categories. Here are some categories you might have:
• Beauty
• Children
• Fashion
• Financial
• Fitness
• Food
• Health
• Home Decor
• Home Improvements
• Pets
• Retailers
• Self-Help/Care
• Service Providers
• Travel
If you have a few papers from one company that you want to save, staple them all together. You can
include business cards into this process. Also purge as you go. If you really don’t feel like you will
ever use it go ahead and recycle the papers.
Pick up a 20 pocket expandable folder and refer to your categories to create your labels, then place
your papers into the apporiate slots.
You could label this folder “Expo Resources.” Keep this folder current by purging before adding
material from a new expo you attended.

Do you have a system for organizing your expo resources? I’d love to hear your ideas.
